Wireless Optical Speed sensor (tachometer) WOS200 is the most advanced wireless rotation speed sensor developed to monitor machine rotation speed through optical technology in real time online. Thanks to the innovative design of ultra-low power technology from Broadsens, the sensor is able to monitor high-speed machines rotation speed wirelessly, remotely and continuously for multiple years before replacing the battery. WOS200 has optical LED lens in the front that is turned on periodically. The measurement interval is user-adjustable. WOS200 provides comprehensive machine condition monitoring and predictive maintenance solutions when combined with Broadsens low-power wireless vibration and temperature sensors and wireless IMU SAG200.

Compared to hall effect speed sensors that require close distance of less than 1mm, optical speed sensor allows much longer distance between the sensor and the measured object, which can go up to half a meter. This allows the sensor to be used for machines or structures with high temperature/low temperature that prohibits usage of hall effect speed measurements. When measured in an hourly interval, the battery of WOS200 can last more than 5 years before replacement in room temperature.

Edge-computing gateway such as GU300 or GU300S is required to use WOS200 sensor. Multiple WOS200 sensors can be used with the same gateway. This allows the sensors to monitor the rotation speed of multiple parts in a large machine in parallel, or the rotation speed of multiple machines. Moreover, the measurement interval is user-adjustable from 5s up to 12 hours. When measured at 12 hour interval, the sensor battery can last 10 years or more in room temperature. WOS200's measurements can also be turned off to increase the battery life when not used.

Wireless optical speed sensor WOS200's battery is user-replaceable when the battery level is low in the field. The sensor uses one 3.6V standard ER14505 battery, which can be purchased from multiple sources.

Reflective tape is required to measure machine rotation speed. To improve measurement accuracy, multiple tapes can be used. For example, by fixing 10 reflective tape on a rotation shaft, the RPM accuracy can be improved by ten times.

Wireless Optical Speed sensor WOS200 is the best to be used with Broadsens advanced wireless vibration & temperature sensors and wireless high temperature sensors for comprehensive machine condition monitoring. Each WOS200 sensor can set up a high rotation speed threshold and low rotation speed threshold. When the machine rotation speed exceeds the high threshold, or less than the low threshold, user can assign a SVT-A wireless vibration sensor group to take acceleration data for advanced vibration analysis.
